“Literature To Liberia West Africa”
Inspired by watching the CNN documentary, “We Will Rise,” and moved by this amazing production, an opportunity permitted me to meet with a professor in the School of Education at Alverno College in Milwaukee Wisconsin to share the message of “We Will Rise.” I accepted an invitation from Dr. Pamela Lucas to speak with her students on campus. It was one of the best decisions I could have made. My visit with the students affirmed for me that Alverno College students would lead and launch a campaign supported by their professor to send books and educational supplies to Liberia. I was truly moved by the energy and inspiration demonstrated by the students. The students eagerly embraced the opportunity to help lift up girls across the globe in Liberia on the west coast of Africa. The idea stemmed from the CNN global outreach initiative “We Will Rise” featuring former First Lady Michelle Obama to help 62 million girls around the world gain access to education. It was an honor to present this information to Alverno College students. The full CNN “We Will Rise” production can be seen on YouTube.
